On February 10, 2023, the two were killed while out for a stroll with a friend at a well-known restaurant in Durban, just before he was scheduled to perform at a local club.

The accused are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, according to the police.

It was evident that Tibz was not the intended victim of the Florida Road murder in Durban, and that AKA was being watched from the airport. Lt Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the provincial police commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, stated on Tuesday night, "We know they were paid for this."

The murders of AKA and his companion, which were allegedly captured on closed-circuit television cameras, horrified many South Africans, given the nation has one of the worst murder rates in the world, according to South Africa Police Minister Bheki Cele.

"After this, I hope South Africans will sleep better," he remarked.

With several famous people among the dead, South Africa has one of the highest murder rates in the world.

AKA began his career in music as a member of the rap trio "Entity" before going solo.

He was praised all around the world and received multiple honors in South Africa before passing away. In addition to receiving nominations from MTV Europe and Black Entertainment Television, he was posthumously honored at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Remember how gunmen murdered reggae singer Lucky Dube three times in 2007 while he was leaving off his adolescent kid at a relative's house after trying to take his car?

Police figures released this month show that between October and December, the country in southern Africa recorded over 84 murders every day.
