Since the start of the war in Ukraine, the UN has recorded 1,892 civilian deaths.

Due to a delay in reports from some regions, the actual casualty counts could be far higher, according to the OHCHR. Areas like the besieged southeastern city of Mariupol, where "numbers are being further corroborated," are among them.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, the UN has recorded 1,892 civilian deaths.

According to the United Nations, at least 1,892 civilians have died and 2,558 have been injured since the conflict in Ukraine began in February.

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said in a statement Tuesday that the number of recorded deaths comprises 478 males, 308 women, 30 girls, and 52 boys, as well as 71 children and 953 individuals whose gender is unclear.

"The majority of civilian casualties were caused by the employment of explosive weapons with a wide effect area, such as shelling from heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, as well as missile and airstrikes," the report stated.

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office has reported a higher number of child deaths. It claimed in a statement on Wednesday that since the Russian invasion began, 191 children have died and more than 349 have been injured.
