Shortage of passport booklets in Ghana”-Foreign Affairs Minister confirms 

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botwey has announced the shortage of the 32-page passport booklet nationwide. 

According to the Minister, this is due to the advent of Covid-19 related disruptions to global supply chains, the Ministry currently do not have in stock the 32-page booklets.

Addressing the media in Accra, she further explained that the Ministry placed an order sometime in August 2021, but the booklets are yet to be delivered

Shirley Ayorkor Botwey assured that efforts are being made to ensure they are delivered sooner rather than later to ensure it serves all applicants.

Ayorkor Botwey, therefore, urged all applicants of the 32-page booklets who can not wait may rather apply again for the 48-page booklets which are available in stock

Shirley Ayorkor Botwey further revealed Ghana's readiness to migrate from the current biometric passport system to Chip-Embedded passports.

She added the roll-out plan is expected to commence within the year to enhance the security features of Ghana's passports
