Save Ghana Foundation have held an inauguration ceremony in the capital of the Ashanti Region, Kumasi at the GNAT Hall, Amakom on Thursday, October 30, 2020.

The program themed, “Saving Ghana for Posterity, a Concern for all” was aimed at advocacy against certain vices diminishing the integrity of Ghanaian leaders which is gradually becoming a new norm in the society, posing threats towards the generation to come.

Dishonesty, Injustice, Corruption and Indiscipline are the four key fraudulent acts addressed by the Foundation as obstructing the progress of Ghana and damaging the reliability of the West African nation to the outside world.

The Chief Executive Officer of Save Ghana Foundation, Mr Kofi Agyei spoke that employers have taken advantage of the redundant nature of the Labor laws to install unappealing wage rates for staffs as a result of hardship in the country.

He referred that the private sector seems unchecked when it comes to Fair Labor Standards which requires employers to pay covered employees who are not otherwise exempt at least the federal minimum wage and overtime pay of one-and-one-half-times the regular rate of pay.

“Dishonesty is playing a key role in the declination of Ghana’s economy and we must do whatever it takes to put an end to that,” he said.

“Salaries paid to some workers is cheating and government seems not concerned about the welfare of citizens that is why we have decided to fight against such because looking at the labour act, the minimum wage is greater than what some workers receive especially in the private sector.

“Compare the salaries of private school teachers, media and many places and you‘ll marvel.

“Injustice has also been rampant in Ghana. People lose court cases because the poor cannot contend with the rich. People are killed for crimes committed because others do not see the court as an honest institution anymore. It is our duty to rise and alert the government of these issues before it gets out of hand.”

Mr Kofi Agyei further asserted that country administrators have invested much money fighting coronavirus whiles corruption has been given space to wander in every area of the country’s day to day activities to damage the loyalty and devotion of people in power. He reminded that the progress of every nation rests on faithfulness and devotion of its leaders and citizens that’s why there is the need to fight the canker and make victims detestable in the society for the younger generation to absorb.

He finally outlined the dangers of disorderliness among the Ghanaians youth saying, “It looks like there is no tomorrow. We seem not to be governed by rules and act like there are no laws in the country."

"Our behaviour makes it look like the world is coming to an end. We destroy everything we touch and later blame government of shortage. It will soon be difficult to predict the wellbeing of Ghana if we keep on with these acts. If we cannot do so, the best option is to put an end to birth since we’ll have nothing for our children to inherit.

“Politicians are embezzling funds; chiefs are selling lands to several people as if there will be no tomorrow. We must rise and advocate to save Ghana for the future, when we say let’s say Ghana, we mean it. Let us all put our hands on deck to save Ghana for posterity. “

He advised that it takes one person to recommend a particular cause for action therefore the media must make it a priority to assist the Foundation to stand against such unscrupulous acts weakening the value of the nation.

“It always takes one person to make a difference and the media plays a key role. Let’s help fight this disease because so many countries have embarked on this advocacy tour and it has worked for them. today they are reaping the results and we are not different from such.”
