Residents Appeal To IGP, Akufo-Addo To Help Flush Out Notorious Land-guards In Gomoa Buduburam

The distraught residents and landlords who have demonstrated against the activities of notorious land-guards in Gomoa Buduburam stressed the need for Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and Akufo-Addo to come to their aid immediately before the situation escalate.

THOUSANDS of residents staying at Buduburam of the Gomoa East District in the Central Region are living in fear and panic as a result of incessant attacks on their homes and families by the notorious land-guards who are working some chiefs and other traditional office holders.

The frightened situation has informed the decision of the visibly worried residents to send a signal of fear and panic to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare over current land-guards and robbery attacks in the area.
The distraught residents and landlords who have demonstrated against the activities of notorious land-guards in Gomoa Buduburam stressed the need for Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and Akufo-Addo to come to their aid immediately before the situation escalate.

The residents with red armbands chanting war songs have registered their dissatisfaction over the criminal activities of notorious land-guards and robbers in the area where they extorted huge amount of monies from land developers.
"We are telling our President and IGP to intervene in this insecurity matter in our area because the most painful aspect of the issue is that these land-guards are forcibly collecting painting fee, plastering fee, roofing fee, tiling fee and POP fee a situation they described as worrying and extortion hence the demonstration," the protestors told journalist.

Addressing the media during the protest, Mr Bartholomew Narh who spoke on behalf of the four different Landlords Association hinted all efforts made at the Gomoa East District Assembly and Chiefs of the Area to curb the situation yielded no positive results.
Meanwhile, some residents in the area who have suffered in the hands of these notorious land-guards have given government one month ultimatum to curb the notorious activities for peace to prevail in the area.
"We are going to arm ourselves and match the notorious land-guards boot for boot if IGP and President Akufo-Addo refused to do something about the worrying situation immediately," they stressed.

The residents in Gomoa Buduburam  summoned all security service commanders, including the Gomoa East District Chief Executive, Mr Solomon Darko Quarm to answer questions on the state of security and crime in the area.
The residents want the security service to be up to the task in the fight against crimes such as armed robbery, land guard activities, car, and motorbike snatching, among others, which have dented the image of the district.
According to them, the level of insecurity in the area is creating fear and panic among residents.
We are worried about the increasing reports of criminal activities in the area. We have taken notice of specific crimes such as land guard activities, car, and motor snatching, armed robbery, ritual killings among others which are giving the area a bad name,” the residents said.

According to them, they expressed disappointment in the security agencies over their handling of the land-guards activities in the area. We  are disappointed at the security agencies for the handling of criminal cases in  Gomoa Buduburam since the perpetrators are not always apprehended,” the residents complained to journalists.
