Stonebwoy has begged government to help its returning citizens by reducing the $150 Covid-19 test fees for all arriving passengers at the Kotoka International Airport.

The multiple award-winning dancehall artiste bitterly complained at the astronomical price of the mandatory tests for passengers that came into force on Tuesday, September 1 following the reopening of the airport after almost six months of closure.

The Akufo-Addo regime had earlier defended the price when it came under criticism initially, it said that the price is on the average as compared to countries running similar tests.

Stonebwoy took to his Twitter to express his disappointment at the sum.

He noted that since December is around the corner and many Ghanaians would love to return home, most would not be able to afford the return since they have to pay an extra $150 upon arrival.

Stonebwoy, therefore, asked that the price be reduced.

The 'Putuu' hitmaker also questioned why returnees who have had a negative result would be made to test again at the airport since a certificate from Ghana does not require any tests at arrivals in any other country.

"1. So why is it that after you get your test done for 350 cedis or more from Ghana. You're not mandated to pay for another test to be taken at your final destination by any other country. Its only Ghana that's doing this to its people or all the other African countries have"

"United in making it tuff for their people... 2. If we present negative results before boarding flights to come home then how possible is it that there's an infected person on board. 3. Or by the time you get to the flight you could contact the virus ?"

"I Pay 600 Rands to do corona test in SA less than 24hrs to fly back to GH.. But authorities in SA insist I Provide POP which is $150 mandatory corona test fee required by the Ghana authorities without Which I’m Not Boarding under the same 24hrs.. I’m confused" he said.
