Real Madrid secure El-Clasico victory at home

Two first-half goals from Real Madrid wrapped up their Classico win in style despite Barcelona’s second-half goal to cut down the deficit in the second El-Clasico of the season.

Karim Benzema opened the scores after a scintillating counter-attacking play from Real Madrid in the 14-minute.

Criminal defending from Alba to lunge into a challenge on halfway left Barca exposed down the right to open a space which Valverde exposed with a driving run from midfield. Vazquez had all the time in the world to cross for Karim Benzema, who had his back to goal but flicked a superb effort past Ter Stegen at the near post.

Toni Kroos doubled the advantage in 14-minute when the German tamed free-kick took a huge deflection off Dest which wrongfooted Ter Stegen and left Alba with no chance of clearing on the line.

The Blaugranas warmed into the game and got one back in the 60-minute through Mingueza.

Jordi Alba kept the ball alive on the left flank and whipped a teasing ball into the near post which Griezmann dummied.

The awareness resulted in the ball finding the unmarked Oscar Mingueza six yards out, and he turned it home to get Barca on the board.

Ilaiz Moriba almost found the equalizer for Barcelona in extra time but his efforts towards goal cannon off the bar. 

Real Madrid goes level on top of the La Liga table with Atletico Madrid who have a game on Sunday night against Real Betis.
