Ghanaian artiste, D-Black has stated that doing rap songs alone cannot make any artiste rich.

He said this in response to the criticism he has been receiving from a section of the entertainment sector who feel that he should quit rapping because of his seemingly lackadaisical attitude towards releasing songs.

While speaking in an interview with Abeiku Santana on his Atuu Show the CEO of Black Avenue Music subtly suggested that he did not make money when he was hardworking with his music, rather he started making a lot when he became unserious with his rap lines.

He stated that music is not all that it seems and all his good songs have done for him is to earn him nominations instead of making him money as they should.

“When I was rapping, I was broke. When I was doing my rap stuff I was getting the accolades, BET but I didn’t get money. I went to the BET with $800 and when I came back I was broke for a very long time. But when I wrote “Vera” and recorded “Vera” everything changed."

D Blacks' view coincided with Shatta Wale's opinion, who had earlier advised the youth of Ghanaian to stop venturing into music for the sole purpose of making money as music alone can't make one rich.

Shatta Wale admonished the younger citizens not to be tempted by glamorous lifestyles of celebrities on social media. He made known that music like all other professions is hard work.

“Well, I’m just driving and I feel I need to share this with most of the youths out there. Of late most of the youths dey feel say, music be the shortcut to yeah then you be a celebrity. My guy in this life if you don’t fight for what you want err, I swear you go think say you dey do but nothing go work for you.”

“You, people, should stop seeing music as one of the simplest opportunities wey you go fit venture in and quickly become stars. You are a mad niggha. You are just wasting your time. I fought for mine.”
