Aaron Ramsdale has joined Sheffield United.

The Bournemouth goalkeeper has penned a four-year deal after completing his transfer on Wednesday night.

The Blades number one goalkeeper, Dean Henderson confirmed his departure after been assured of a place at Old Trafford to compete with David De Gea.

Chris Wilder’s side needed an immediate replacement for the departed Red Devils loanee and had their focus on Ramsdale for £18.5m after the Championship side rejected a £12m earlier.

The former Sheffield United player who made two first-team appearances, before departing for Bournemouth in 2017 spoke that his acquisition by his former side is a sign of good faith.

"I'm delighted, it wasn't an easy decision to leave Bournemouth, but when a club comes in for you, shows that faith it has and is willing to pay this sort of money then obviously I've got to do a lot to repay it, but my smile has been ear-to-ear since I walked back through the door," he said.

Wilder praised Dean Henderson’s effort over the last two seasons – in the Championship and Premier League and mentioned that they needed one of the best in the country they could entrust the department in his hands.

"The goalkeeping situation is something we have to make sure we get right.

"This is not about Dean (Henderson), it's about bringing Aaron in, but Dean was outstanding for us for two years. We know a lot about Aaron, we've watched him develop on loan at Chesterfield and then AFC Wimbledon and obviously we've watched him this season too.
