POULTRY FARMERS DECRY MAIZE SCARCITY, HIGH EXCHANGE RATE, AND TAXATION AS OVER TEN THOUSAND PEOPLE MAY LOSE JOBS IN DORMAA.

The Dormaa Poultry Farmers and Egg Sellers Association, over ten thousand individuals are at risk of losing their jobs due to the poultry industry's problems.

This was revealed by Mr. Dei Kusi, Chairman of the Dormaa Poultry Association, at a meeting with Bono Regional Minister Justina Awo Banahene at Dormaa Ahenkro.

Mr. Dei Kusi has raised concerns about the loss of over ten thousand employees in the poultry industry due to a lack of maize, concentrate, and soya, as well as a high currency rate and increased multiple taxations by the NPP government.
Farmers claim that the cost of feed has jumped by more than 100%, causing them to sell their hens at a low price.

They further stated that in the Dormaa Municipality, around 200 farms have already fallen in less than a year.

They demanded rapid action to save the country's poultry sector from extinction.

In response, Bono Regional Minister Justina Awo Banahene stated that the current problem could lead to the poultry industry's demise if immediate action is not taken.

According to her, Dormaa is the most peaceful place in the Bono region because of the poultry industries that span the Municipality, with over 60% of the youth in the area having direct or indirect employment opportunities.

She promised the farmers that her administration would help them.
