Pathologist to conduct check on late Abdul Hakeem body - family

The family of the late Abdul Hakeem Yakubu, the Junior High School graduate who was hit by a stray bullet during police indiscriminate shootings at Lamashegu last Sunday says the family is seeking the services of the pathologist to unearth the cause of the decease.

Honorable Alhassan Imoro who is the Assemblyman for Sagnarigu Dungu Electoral Area and spokesperson for the deceased family told Soireenews that, the family is yet to come to terms with the death of Abdul Hakeem.

"We are not pathologists to know the cause of his death, we cannot tell, so we are to allow pathologists to check the body and give us a report, what we know is that he was hit by a stray bullet".

According to him, the family initially demanded the body of the decease for burials through the chief of Lamashegu, but the family was admonished not to rush to bury the late Abdul Hakeem Yakubu since the government delegation is set to visit Tamale for a fact-finding mission.

Honorable Alhassan further indicated that the family is now waiting for the delegation from the nation's capital to also come, and access the extent of the incident.

He condemned the police outburst and the usage of live bullets on civilians.

Meanwhile, three persons are at the Tamale Teaching Hospital receiving medical attention.

The Member of Parliament for the Tamale South Constituency and minority leader in Parliament, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu addressing Journalists at the Lamasheigu Naa palace said the police are found of taking the law into their hands.

This according to him, is gradually becoming a ritual for the police in the Tamale Metropolis.

He, therefore, cautioned police in the Metropolis to be circumspect in their dealings with the public, adding that 'enough is enough.
