Ola Micheal: "Ghanaian movies won't survive on streaming platforms due to high data costs"

Ola Michael thinks Ghanaians won't be able to support their works because of the high cost of data.

Ola claims that because watching the movie online will cost data, no Ghanaian will enjoy watching an hour of Ghanaian film.

How many Ghanaians will view a video that I, as a producer, wish to put on a streaming service, like YouTube, especially if it lasts for an hour? Since individuals will be considering the amount of data they will use to view this film," he stated.

He has counseled his fellow producers not to take on Nigerians in the film industry; instead, they should upload the film in small chunks rather than all at once.

To encourage people to watch, we thus advise those who are creating content for YouTube to keep it to a maximum of ten minutes at the very least.

However, unless you're fortunate enough for Ghanaians outside to also learn about and watch it, if you're doing a feature on YouTube similar to what the Nigerians are doing, it won't work for you.

Thus, they are the ones who are currently assisting us with the streaming," he continued.
