NPP NEC Election: Musah Superior Preaches Welfare Messages To Delegates
A frontrunner in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretaryship race, Mr Iddrisu Musah, popularly referred to as Musah Superior, has stated that the welfare of the grassroot members, building of broken structures, foundations and ensuring unity after the presidential primaries of the NPP are top on his agenda when given the nod to win the party's scribe position.

Mr Musah who doubles as the foundation member of the NPP noted that it is his strongest conviction that the party unity, since according to him, this is the surest way of retaining the NPP power in the 2024 general elections in order to make the National Congress Democratic (NDC) stay in the opposition for the long times.

Speaking in an interview on Adom TV in Accra on Friday July 15, 2022, Mr Musah stressed that he is ready to contest the General Secretary position of the NPP in the NPP National Executives Election (NEC) scheduled for tomorrow Saturday July 16, 2022 in Accra.

Mr Musah who is in number two position on the ballot paper called on delegates of the party to elect competent constituency executive members capable of uniting the party and offering solutions to challenges facing the party at the local levels.

To break the eight-year cycle in 2024, Mr Musah stated it also required competent and committed constituency executive members who would go all out to make the party appealing to the Ghanaians electorate.

“At this critical moment, the NPP requires leaders who will unite us, make us strong, motivate us and provide a strategic plan or direction at the constituency level to widen our base so that we can prepare well for the 2024 election and not those who are driven by selfish interests,” the former Tamale mayor noted.
Mr. Musah observed that there appeared to be some apathy in the rank and file which was unhealthy for the party.

“Pretending everything is okay is dangerous, we require steady persons not persons who look at everything from a selfish point of view. We must elect people who seek to resolve problems and who will lead honestly, transparently and with a clear mission to re-mobilise our disgruntled members and supporters into one powerful unit,” he stated.

Mr Musah urged the members of the party to rally support behind him, in his quest to become the next general secretary of the party.

He noted that he is poised and determined to ensure that the NPP, emerges victorious in the 2024 elections, in a bid to bring back what he described as a “sweet-super win” of the NPP, in the 2016 election.

“I want to bring back the super-sweet win we had in 2016.”

Mr. Iddrisu, who is also the Deputy CEO, of the Forestry Commission, has assured members of the party, especially, members at the grass-root level, of his massive support, if he’s elected the General Secretary, in the upcoming internal elections of the party.

The NPP general secretary hopeful, bemoaned the current treatment meted out to
grassroots members of the party.

“I have visited almost constituencies in 12 regions so far, as part of his campaign” tour, and from what I observed, the current state of many polling station
officers and constituency executives is an eyesore. 61 percent of the last constituency officers, do not have a job or business,” he lamented.

He mentioned, that the party must pay critical attention to constituency executives, as he added, that they should be empowered and provided with the needed logistics.

“Some constituency offices, are ramshackle. Research officers and constituency officers do not even have the needed logistics to work with,” added.

“If NDC can build a party office in the centre of Accra, how much more a party that has been in governance for about five years now! Have you visited the party’s National headquarters before? he quizzed. It’s very sad”, he said.

He, however, blamed the current executives, for what he described as a failure, as he maintained, that the administrative structure of the party is non-functional.

“All these balls down to poor leadership on the side of current executives of the party.

That notwithstanding, the Former Mayor of Tamale Metropolis promised to establish the “business develop unit” initiative, which is aimed at empowering folks of the NPP, right from the polling station, and constituency, to the regional level with a GH¢ 300M fund.

He revealed that the party lacks welfare funds. “It’s appealing that members of the party, are unable to receive the needed support to enhance their livelihood.”

In that regard, he’s proposing a 1Million cedi Welfare fund, geared towards supporting the welfare of both executives and members of the party, when the need arises.

In a bid to materialize this proposal, Mr Musa mentioned, that every Minister, CEOs, and all government appointees will be given a letter, to pledge an amount to be paid every month, to support the fund.

He added, that the party could only break the eight if it prioritize and reorganize from the grassroots.
