The Board of Directors of ARB Apex Bank Limited, the regulator of rural and community banks in Ghana have denied flatly widespread media reports to the effect that there is no "uneasy calm" at the bank as is being peddled in the public.

Against this background, the board called on the general public, particularly the customers of the bank to disregard these assertions, saying that the works of the bank are going on smoothly without any disturbances.

But the board was quick to state that "we have noted with grave concern about certain developments at the bank which have been published by the media."

There was a recent media report that there is uneasy calm amongst the staff and management of ARB Apex Bank, over the possible extension of the term of the current Managing Director (MD), Mr Kojo Mattah.

However, setting the records straight, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ARB Apex Bank Limited, Dr Anthony Aubynn pointed out that some of the issues raised by "Concerned Staff' of the Bank have been dealt with and others are being handled by Bank of Ghana (BoG) and investigations are currently ongoing to establish the veracity of the claims.

He asserted the board recognises the enormity of these allegations being peddled in the media even before the Bank of Ghana comes out with their report.

Until the Bank of Ghana finalises their investigations and issue its report, he stated that the Board cannot sidestep the process and respond to the issues raised.

"We wish to urge the media to tread with caution in the publication of such unfounded allegations, and the board assured the general public that there is calm at the bank and "our doors are open to our esteemed customers."

Finally, he stressed that there is, therefore, no "uneasy calm" at the Bank as is being peddled.
