Tension Brews In Bawjiase over Chieftaincy crises

Tension is gradually brewing in the Awutu Traditional Area of the Central Region following a long unending chieftaincy crisis in the area.

The uneasy situation followed the move by aggrieved youth group in Awutu State led by the Awutu Emasa Peace Network to launch a scathing attack on the Paramount Chief of Awutu Traditional Area, Nai Abokuadi Agyemang Whettey Otabil III for what they described as a wrong doing.

The anger of the youth of the area stemmed from the fact that they could not fathom why Nai Abokuadi Agyemang Whettey Otabil III is supporting the Obo Gate of Twidan Clan of Awutu Bawjiase  to install a new chief amidst chieftaincy dispute which is being handled by the National House of Chiefs.

Speaking in an interview with Soireenews via telephone call on Monday, May 24, 2021, the leadership of the group in the persons of Kwaku Gyano and Nai Pobee argued that the move by "our paramount chief is one that only fuels violence and counter the peace of the land.

According to them, the Awutu state is known for peace and "we so love our leader to lead us maintaining it and preach same to those beyond our borders."

They stressed that they "therefore want to call the attention of National, Regional and District Security to intervene in time before the unwanted occur.'

From a reliable source, the two personalities revealed that a new chief would be installed at Bawjiase on 25th May, 2021.

They added that the Awutu Emasa Peace Network seeks peace, stability and development like all other tribes, not chieftaincy dispute and chaos.
