Neymar has communicated that if anyone had questions concerning the impact of Paris Saint Germain in European football, the answers were provided in this year’s Champions League competition.

PSG were finalists in the just ended Champions League for the first time as they lost to Bayern Munich by a goal to nil.

Neymar and Mbappe’s influence was key to knocking out Atalanta in the quarter-finals, RB Leipzig in the semis before Kingsley Coman’s header in the early stages of the second half sank their hopes, having squandered greater opportunities in both halves.

The Brazilian told that the loss is part of the building process and so it is their obligation as professionals to learn from the blunders and put it into effective use next time.

"Since I came here, I've experienced two last 16 exits, but I think this is part of the journey you have to make to become a great club," Neymar told PSG's official magazine.

"Success doesn't come in a day and I think that these eliminations, these disappointments, and these mistakes have been important to learn from and make the group even stronger.

"Now we can say that we're a strong club and a strong team, a team focused on its goal, which is to get back to the Champions League final.

"If anyone doubted whether PSG were amongst the elite, those doubts died in Lisbon."
