NDC Will Lose Akwatia Parliamentary Seat In 2024 Polls With Sitting MP--Youths Warn Leadership Of The Party
incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia, Honourable Henry Yiadom Boakye
The main opposition political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Akwatia Constituency of the Eastern Region has been warned to consider presenting a different person as its parliamentary candidate if it hopes to retain the Akwatia seat for the great party in the 2024 general elections.

Thousands of the young supporters and members of the NDC in the area led by Mr. Ashmeiu Gbenga Kondo, popularly known as Ashcom in an interview with Soireenews.com said although the party stands a chance of winning the polls, they are convinced its chances will be squandered if they present the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia, Honourable Henry Yiadom Boakye as their parliamentary candidate again.
"Very soon the leadership of the NDC would fix the actual date for the parliamentary primary for Akwatia constituency and that the sitting MP is seriously carvasing to run again, but we, the young people of the party in the area expect the NDC to seek to revitalise its prospects with a fresh parliamentary candidate.
"We are warning and advising the leadership of the party in the constituency that we cannot win the Akwatia parliamentary seat in the 2024 general elections with Honourable Henry Yiadom Boakye. This is a real fact and not a propaganda machinery and that somethings quickly must be done about it.
"...so the only options we are suggesting were to call on the delegates and members of the party who would be casting their votes in the yet-to-be held primary to vote against the MP, Honourable Henry Yiadom Boakye to lose the primary. They should rather vote for the potential parliamentary hopeful, Mr. Erasmus KONEY Ali who was highly tipped by the majority of the delegates and members of the party in Akwatia to win the race to lead the party to win the seat in the 2024 general election.

"This is because the grounds are not fertile for our incumbent MP due to his poor performance. Our MP performed abysmally to the expectation of majority of the constituents in the twenty-one (21) electoral areas within Akwatia Constituency, the concerned youth of the NDC in Akwatia on behalf of Mr. Ashmeiu Gbenga Kondo gave the hint to the leadership of the party.
Speaking on behalf of the NDC youth in the area, Mr Kondo who doubles as the NDC youth activist stated that they have expressed disappointment regarding their sitting MP's failure to bring joy to the constituents in the way of not lobbying for the social intervention and infrastructure developmental projects to be brought to the Akwatia constituency.
According to them, since the incumbent MP was elected to represent the people in Akwatia in parliament, he cannot pointed out to one of the monumental projects and programmes he has lobbied to be done in the constituency.
They further stated that their MP is only interested in donating monies for funerals, graduation and child naming ceremonies of the people in the constituency, daring him to show some of the monumental projects he has done so far in the area.

"Our incumbent MP since we have voted for him to win the election in the 2020 general election, he cannot touted his interventions in areas including agriculture, education, health, jobs, road infrastructure, youth development and improving the livelihood of Persons with Disability (PWDs) and the vulnerable in society. We are saying these as a means of propaganda.

"...some of us will be ascending the throne comes in the nearest future so it is now our turn to put our leadership on check so as when it is our turn we can just point at projects and programmes that our predecessors did so that we can also campaign on them. So if you have an incumbent MP and you didn't put the MP on the check, people may think that we are not doing our works as the recognized youth activists of the NDC," they noted.

They indicated that "It is on records that our MP won the parliamentary seat in Akwatia in the 2020 general election by just a mere votes margin of about 1,000 votes against NPP. Whilst our former President John Dramani Mahama woefully lost the election in the Akwatia constituency by over 5,000 votes," they disclosed.
However, they stated that these electoral records "should tell we the supporters of the NDC in the area that there are a lot to be done here in Akwatia.
"And that if we didn't get a new or fresh parliamentary candidate who would can rally and woo the whole youths and delegates along then our party is heading towards a serious danger in the 2024 general elections," they added.
The young outspoken politician mentioned that  "Our MP won 1000 votes in the 2020 general elections just because of misunderstanding that arose between some factions of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Akwatia constituency. Although the previous misunderstanding is still persist but our MP does have the changes again to use that advantage to win the seat.
According to them, "This is because our MP used face of the  former MP for the NPP,  Honourable Mercy Adu Gyamfi, popularly called Ama Sey, who contested the NDC parliamentary candidate primaries and lost.
"The followers of Honourable Ama Sey have to throw their support for our incumbent MP. But the story is not same today as l am speaking to you. Because the possibility o the former NPP MP, Honourable Ama Sey who is currently preparing to contest winning the race is very high.
"And that if that should happened, it means that the supporters of the NPP whose our MP had in the previous election in the 2020 will not go in his ways again which will automatically affects his chances to retain the seat for the NDC in the 2024 showdown," Mr  schooled the delegates and leadership of the party.
On the issue of the ongoing market, school and health projects being carried by the incumbent MP in the Akwatia constituency, Mr. Kondo who doubles as the member of the communications team of the NDC responded that "these projects were campaign face serving projects, ostensibly to create the impression that the MP has what it takes to bring the needed projects to the area."

"Today the good people of Assin North Constituency of the Central Region are hooting and shouting at the NPP gurus for now coming to do their developmental projects because they had felt that the NPP gurus are doing these projects ostensibly to buy their votes so that we voted for the NPP to win the Assin North by-election.

"So shame goes to our Akwatia Constituency MP. If the MP thinks that he should do these projects for the people of Akwatia. Is it not being that the MP now be contested keenly before he would think of doing these projects. We are now saying if the MP now has what it takes to do these projects then we are saying that our MP should have done these projects for long times ago," they argued.
They further stressed that the MP has been the worst performing MP the NDC ever elected to represent the people of Akwatia as compared to the former MP on the ticket of the NDC, Honourable Ahmed Mohammed Baba Jamal who has performed well to bring monumental projects to the constituency.

They noted that the delegates and members of the NDC were not going to be allowed for the incumbent MP to be imposed on them again.

According to them, it was clearly that Mr. Erasmus KONEY Ali, popularly known as ASANKA has been chosen by the majority of the delegates and members of the National Democratic Congress o win upcoming NDC parliamentary primaries for the Akwatia constituency and subsequently retain wrestle the parliamentary seat for the NDC in the 2024 general elections.
Mr. Erasmus KONEY Ali, who is delusional citizen of Akwatia, is popular among the NDC Youth Wing in the Constituency and many of the youth cannot wait to see him become MP for the area.
“The delegates, members and supporters of the NDC in the area pointed out that the NDC cannot restrain the 2024 parliamentary elections with any other person than the workaholics Erasmus KONEY Ali, who has what it takes to restructure the foundations of the party.
The current phenomenon which the members and supporters of the NDC have saw, hence their decision to endorse the parliamentary candidature of Erasmus KONEY Ali to win the NDC primaries and move forward to retain the seat for the party.
It has emerged from the empirical evidence on the ground that the political wining grounds are not good for incumbent NDC MP, again for the upcoming election, who according to some electorate was very unpopular across the constituency.
In this regard, the onus now lies on the NDC to elect a parliamentary candidate like the young Erasmus KONEY Ali who would be able to match the NPP’s candidate to retain the seat for the NDC.
