NDC MP Queenstar  Fetes Akufo-Addo's  NABCO Trainees  In Agona East

The National Democratic Congress (NDC)  Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East District Central Region, Honourable Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr, has organised a get-together-party in her residence in Agona Kwanyako for all the trainees working under the national flagship youth employment programme,National Builders Corps (NABCO) in her constituency.

Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East District Central Region, Honourable Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyerr, has organised a get-together-party in her residence in Agona Kwanyako for all the trainees working under the national flagship youth employment programme, National Builders Corps (NABCO) in her constituency.

The Nation Builders Corps programme is a government initiative to address graduate unemployment to solve social problems. 

The focus of the initiative will be solving public service delivery in health, education, agriculture, technology, governance and driving revenue mobilization and collection. 

But the government has found it extremely difficult to pay monthly allowances due to the trainees being on time, making some of them have been swallowing in poverty.

However to improve the human conditions of the NABCO trainees, the NDC MP who doubles as the Central Regional Deputy Minister disclosed that she has given all the NABCO trainees in her constituency of an undisclosed amount of money.

The donation of the cash to the trainees, according to the MP, was aimed at saving the lives of the trainees since the ruling government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has woefully failed the NABCO trainees.

According to Mrs Sawyerr, the welfare of faithful NABCO trainees is her almost concerns adding that she observed that the youths have a critical role in the development of every community and underscored the need for Ghanaians to end any form of discrimination against the youths.

"On Saturday 5th March 2022, I hosted all trainees in Agona East who work under the government’s flagship programme, Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) at my residence in Agona Kwanyako to discuss issues of employment and welfare.

"The unpaid NABCO trainees in the country have embarked on numerous demonstrations and used other communication mediums to demand from the government to honour its pre-election promise of integrating them into the permanent mainstream works and unpaid allowances due them," she noted.

As an important arm of government (legislature), she stated that it is important to give urgent attention and add my voice to their welfare system.

          
She disclosed that "I donated to each trainee clothes, cash and food items to mitigate their hardships and to put smiles on their faces.  We also shared ideas, advice, ate together and danced.

"It is my prayer that the LORD touches the hearts of the authorities in charge to pay the eleven months arrears of Heal Ghana Nurses and isolated trainees in other modules," she concluded.
