Ghanaian screen goddess, Nana Aba Anamoah is upset over the new mobile money transaction tax which has been introduced by the current government and has reacted to it.

In a post she posted on her Twitter page, the General manager of GhOne, has said the tax being levelled is so high that the majority of Ghanaians cannot afford it including herself.

She has claimed that it is against everything Vice President, Dr Mahmud Bawumia has lamented from his earlier position on not taxing mobile money.

She tweeted, “I don't think @MBawumia's personal position has changed when he says he 'doesn't think mobile money should be taxed.' It is against everything he's been trying to achieve over the last 5 years. 1.75% is high @NAkufoAddo. We can't."

She claims that it is against everything the vice president has been dreaming to achieve over the past five years.

She continued,” "100 cedi’s & above —-> 1.75% Eiiii. Dear @NAkufoAddo, 1.75% is high for something used so frequently. Kindly reconsider."

She questioned, “: "What happened? What changed? Where did this 1.75% on 100 cedis and above come from? @NAkufoAddo & @MBawumia, this is draconian."

A huge number of netizens on social media are not happy with the overview of the current tax and have shown their annoyance.

Following the current 2022 budget statement which was read yesterday by the financial Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, which has been revealed that the government has introduced a 1.75% tax on all mobile money transactions, which will begin next year.
