It is in the light of the above that the Migration Watch and Skilled Revolution Front(MWSRF) has developed a 5-year strategic plan to guide its activities.

Despite the existence of policies and regulatory frameworks seeking to provide mechanisms for protecting migrants,doxens of vulnerable migrants are  sstill facing stiff exploration.

 It is in the light of the above that the Migration Watch and Skilled Revolution Front(MWSRF) has developed a 5-year strategic plan to guide its activities.

The strategic plan which stems from 2023 to 2028 will seek to articulate the priority areas of work and further provide a framework to ensure that major programme interventions align with the core goals of the organization and further contribute to the attainment of sustainable development goals(SDGs).

The strategic plan,he disclosed has identified seven areas of priority key to achieving the strategic objectives.He observed further that the seven strategic areas which include research,managing irregular migration,protection of migrant's rights,facilitating the return and reintegration of vulnerable migrants,training and capacity-building,financial mobilization and monitoring and evaluation represent the first step in translating its strategic vision into practical action programmes in the implementation process.                        

Themed, "Managing  Irregular Migration In a Sustainable, Orderly, Safe and Responsible Manner, the move, is a novelty aimed at the enhancement of protection mechanism of migrant workers and their families.                    

 The initiative, according to Mr. Ato Amoah, the Co-founder and Managing Professional, Migrant Watch has come to fill the vacuum in the protection of migrants.   Mr. Amoah in a statement bemoaned the inability of state agencies to provide the needs of vulnerable migrants and called a pragmatic approach in addressing same.              

The co-founder underscored the importance of civil society organizations in the design and implementation of programmes aimed at managing irregular migration in line with the 2030 Global Development Agenda(GDA) and the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) formulated for the first time in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly(UNGA)..              

The development impacts of migration, he explained led to the  championing of the Global Compact on Migration(GCM) formulation in 2018 to guide International cooperation on migration.Though  Ghana adopted a National Migration Policy and a National Labour Migration Policy in 2020 however, there are gaps to be filled and huddles to be crossed.                          

Migration Watch and Skilled Revolution Front(MWSRF) is an organization that plays a pivotal role in the protection of vulnerable  migrants. It has over the years engaged in campaigns against irregular migration,rescued victims of human trafficking and smuggling of both children and adults  in Ghana. It has provided skills training programmes for returned migrants to ensure their sustainable reintegration.                     

With financial assistance from Open Society Initiative of West Africa(OSIWA),MWSRF has adopted a number of reforms in its structure and function in its bid of becoming more effective and efficient in the delivery of its programs.                    MWSRF is committed to addressing emerging challenges including covid 19 which has the potential to affect livelihoods thereby engineering an increased irregular migration.                

TTe launch is aimed at sensitizing all stakeholders about MWSRF's commitment in contributing to the comprehensive approach to human mobility and enhanced cooperation for the Global Compact of Migration(GCM).
