A visit by Soireenews correspondent, Yaw Opoku to the sighted on 18 August  2021 disclosed the pit was still uncovered. Some residents who spoke to Soireenews off-camera said it is a worry to them since their wards play a lot of games around the mining pit.

They asked for immediate reclamation by the investor whose name was given as Asamoah before something terrible happens.

A 27-year-old, Yeboah Cosmos who resides at Amemerewa said a lot of effort has been made by the youth to reclaim the land but has yielded no positive results due to the opinion leaders uninvolvement.

He is pleading with Hon. Member of Parliament for the Obuasi West constituency, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Kwarteng and the Assemblymember for the Electoral Area Hon. Francis Appianin to swiftly intervene before some of the residents become victims by falling into the mining pit.
