Maurice Ampaw NPP's Membership Claim Is 'Fake' As Leadership Of The Party Disowns Him
PRIVATE Legal Practitioner and a Presenter on Wotumi Television who claimed in public to be a leading card bearing member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Maurice  Ampaw has been completely disowned by the leadership of the party when they appreard before the Asanteman Traditional Council.

Mr Ampaw comments came on the back of a summon issued to Ashanti Regional chairman of the NPP,  Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi by the Kumasi Traditional Council over an alleged distasteful comment directed at Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which has since infuriated Asanteman.
Before he could honour the summon on January 22, Maurice is reported to have taken to the TV station and denigrated the traditional rulers over the summon.
Chairman Wontumi did not honour the invite. Instead, an NPP delegation led by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, appealed to the traditional council to request an extension on the basis that the Regional Chairman was ill.

However, the leadership of the NPP led by the current General Secretary of the party, Mr Justin  Koduah has stated categorically that NPP does not know lawyer Maurice Ampaw.
He says the party did not give him any form of responsibility to speak on its behalf, and therefore he will have to come and defend himself in front of the Ashanti King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu.
However, the political party indicated that they would produce Chairman Wontumi but issued a caveat that they would not support him if he failed to do so.
“We will ask Wontumi to appear before you on Monday as you have requested. We want to put it on record that if he fails to show up on Monday with another excuse, we will take ourselves out of the issue and leave him to fight his battle.
As for Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, he does not speak for the political party, and so he has to come and defend himself,” the General Secretary for the NPP told Ashanti Chiefs.
According to Justin Kodua Frimpong, Mr Ampaw has not been appointed as a spokesperson for the party.

Consequently, the party has distanced itself from the comments made by the lawyer during his programme on Wontumi TV over the weekend.
“The party does not recognize Maurice Ampaw.”
This means Maurice and the management of Wontumi TV are solely responsible for answering for their broadcast, which has been deemed disrespectful to traditional authorities.
Someone by the name Maurice Ampau has disrespected us on Wontumi’s TV station over the summon we issued to him today. He used unprintable words on us. Who is Wontumi that we cannot summon here? The traditional media is meant to educate and impart knowledge not to disrespect traditional rulers,” the Akwamu Division of the Council decried when the NPP appeared before the Council without Mr Antwi Boasiako.
“Don’t let anyone come and throw away what you used years to gather,” Kyeame Kwaku Wusu warned the NPP as he added his voice to condemn the recent trend by some party members.
The Council in issuing a final timeline for the Regional Chairman to appear before it on Monday, January 29, also demanded the appearance of Maurice Ampaw and the management of Wontumi TV.
The NPP assured of compelling the Regional Chairmain before the Council, noting further excuses will not be countenanced.
“We will dissociate ourselves from any other excuse he gives this time around,” he stated after earlier conveying that Wontumi was sick and had been admitted to a hospital where he is receiving treatment and could therefore not appear before the Council.
