Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford became the first player to welcome Jadon Sancho to the club after the Red Devils confirmed the capture of the Dortmund star.

The Germans confirmed earlier today that a £73.1million deal had been struck with United, while the Premier League side took to their own website shortly after 2.30pm to reveal the news.

It brings to an end one of the longest running transfers in recent history and Sancho will finally pull on the famous red shirt next season, quite probably as the club’s new no.7.

The United forward basically confirmed Sancho’s move earlier this week, though Rashford later claimed he was ‘hacked’.

But there was no stopping Rashford today as he officially welcomed Sancho to the club after the Red Devils’ confirmation.

Jadon Sancho becomes United’s first signing of the summer and they hope to add Raphael Varane to the mix in the coming weeks.

Real Madrid originally wanted around £70m for the Frenchman but United believe they can land him for closer to £45m and negotiations are said to be progressing well.

Varane has 12 months left on his deal with the Los Blancos and has so far resisted the temptation to extend his contract.
