Manchester United are pursuing a quest to clearing up Edinson Cavani to enable him make his debut against Newcastle United when the Premier League resumes on October 17.

The Red Devils will travel to the Saint James Park on Saturday hoping to redeem themselves after suffering a 6-1 defeat at home to Jose Mourinho’s Spurs.

The arrival of Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Cavani is to strengthen the various departments of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side yet the former Paris St Germain’s forward has been stricken by the UK government’s coronavirus regulations set on August 15, which mandates travellers from France and some other countries to the UK must quarantine for 14 days.

The rule also applies if a travel stop was made in those countries 14 days before arrival in England.

Manchester United seems to be affected by the rule that bans the 33-year old for partaking in sports within the 14 days since failure to oblige by the rule could lead to a fine over £1,000 (1,110 euros), which could rise to £3,200 (3,550 euros) and the UK also has the right to refuse entry into the country to non-citizens if they refuse to comply with the quarantine rules.

Newcastle won 3-1 at home against Burnley and are looking to impress against the Red Devils who have lost twice and picked a tough win at the Amex in their second game.

The Sun reveals that United are looking to see if there is any way Cavani can start work at Carrington earlier following his deadline move on Monday as a free agent.

If things do not work out, Cavani will be available on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, to play against his former side, Paris Saint Germain in the Champions’ League group stage at Old Trafford.
