A man believed to in his mid-40s has been charged and arraigned before the Amasaman District Court in the Ga West Municipal Assembly of the Greater Accra Region for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl to death.

The suspect, Benjamin Donkor (also known as Bra Ato) appeared before the court on Tuesday, February 02, 2021, where, he was charged with rape and murder.

He is alleged to have lured the victim from her residence on the morning of Wednesday, January 20, 2021, and engaged her in lovemaking, which resulted in the young girl’s death.

The teenager had on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, been declared missing by her two elder sisters whom she was living with. And when the deceased did not return home till 1:00 p.m. that day, her siblings together with some neighbours mounted a frantic search for her.

The deceased’s eldest sister then lodged a complaint with the police at Amasaman around 6:00 pm.

However, the corpse of the young girl was found the next day (Thursday, January 21, 2021) with some in an uncompleted storey building not far away from home.

According to eyewitnesses, the deceased was found naked with bloodstains in her dress, arousing suspicion that she was raped to death.
