The Ahafo Regional Police Command has assured the people of Ahafo particular the management and Staff of Newmont Ghana Gold Limited that it will provide the needed security to enable them to go about their duties.

The Ahafo Regional Police Command has commenced investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack by a group of armed young men numbering about 50 at Rank Camp located at Ntotroso leading to five (5) persons sustaining injuries.
 
A statement issued and signed by the Ahafo Regional public Relations Office of Ghana police service, ASP Isaac Kwami Loh copied to Soireenews indicated that according to preliminary investigations, on July 14, 2021, at 16:00hours a group of young men numbering about 50 armed with offensive weapons including a pump-action gun, Cutlasses and clubs approached the rank camp of Newmont Ghana Gold Limited at Ntotroso where operational men are based and attacked them.

They broke into the camp's gate amidst firing the operational team signalled to stop but ignored the warning and broke the chain.

It said the police also resumed fire to demobilize the crowd and in the cause of that five person's sustain injures; Stephen Antwi 32, Issaka Yakubu age 30, Apisco age 28, Issah Amu 18 years and Solomon San, 20 years, all residents of Ntotroso. The five people are at the hospital receiving treatment.

The Ahafo Regional Police Command has assured the people of Ahafo particular the management and Staff of Newmont Ghana Gold Limited that it will provide the needed security to enable them to go about their duties without fear, meanwhile, the Command are appealing to the general public to volunteer information of any criminal behaviour to enable police to curb the commission of crime in the region
