According to a recent source, the murders in the village of Moura took place during an operation against a jihadist organization.

The peasants were picked up and executed during a gunfight. Many different ladies were raped.

White men speaking a foreign language were described as the foreign troops.

It is widely accepted that they belonged to the Russian mercenary organization Wagner, which operates in Mali.

Volker Turk, the UN's human rights commissioner, stated that the murders may have been crimes against humanity and war crimes.
