Shaqiri and Salah celebrate Reds second

Liverpool moved four points behind Manchester City and one after United following their 3-1 win against West Ham United at the London Stadium.

Second-half goals from Mohamed Salah, hitting a brace and Wijnaldum gave the champions all three points before Dawson scored a consolation for the Hammers.

The first half produced a monotonous moment of passing around the ball as West Ham sat back and contained the Reds attacks.

Nat Phillips was solid against the aerial threat of Antonio and Soucek while shots from Salah and Thiago threatened Fabianski but not too troubled.

Liverpool’s sub, Curtis Jones, who came on for James Milner made a quick impact by pushing forward a ball before finding Salah on the right side. The Egyptian sized up Cresswell and curled a beautiful shot beyond Fabianski to end his six Premier League match drought in the 57-minute.

Salah doubled the Reds lead 11 minutes later.

Alexander-Arnold switched the play for Shaqiri to gallop clear down the left and his long diagonal was killed first time by Salah before he nonchalantly flicked his effort with the outside of the left boot beyond Fabianski.

WIjnaldum got the third, six minutes to full time after the Reds frustrated West Ham defence. Salah and Oxlade-Chamberlain popped the ball around in midfield before Alexander-Arnold was found in space down the right. He ventured forward before a sharp one-two involving Oxlade-Chamberlain and Firmino led to a simple tap-in for Georginio Wijnaldum.

Dawson grabbed the consolation for the hosts from Cresswell's corner which missed Phillips front post and the West Ham man was able to direct his half volley beyond Alisson from close range.

The defeat leaves West Ham in fifth place with 35 points.
