Lawyer Akoto Ampaw Has Been Confirmed Dead 

Reports indicate that he breathed his last today, on October 20, 2023, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). Lawyer Ampaw had been facing health challenges since the beginning of the year.

Lawyer Akoto Ampaw Has Been Confirmed Dead 
Renowned Ghanaian lawyer and human rights activist, Lawyer Anthony Akoto Ampaw Esq., has been confirmed to have passed away.
 Reports indicate that he breathed his last today, on October 20, 2023, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). Lawyer Ampaw had been facing health challenges since the beginning of the year.
Akoto Ampaw was widely recognized as the leader of the legal team that vigorously defended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s victory in the 2020 presidential elections at the Supreme Court. He was also a frontrunner to be appointed as the Special Prosecutor, a role for which the president had given his approval with the passage of the Office of Special Prosecutor Bill.
Fondly known as ‘Che Che’ since his university days at the University of Ghana, Mr. Ampaw played a crucial role as part of the New Patriotic Party’s legal team during the Election Petition of 2013. His passing is a significant loss to the legal and human rights community in Ghana.

Lawyer Anthony Akoto Ampaw Esq was a distinguished Ghanaian lawyer and human rights activist. He served as the head of the legal team that defended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s victory in the 2020 Presidential elections at the Supreme Court. Ampaw was also a likely candidate for the role of Special Prosecutor after the president’s approval of the Office of Special Prosecutor Bill.
Affectionately known as ‘Che Che’ since his university days at the University of Ghana, Mr. Ampaw played a significant role in the New Patriotic Party’s legal team during the Electoral Petition of 2013. He was a partner in Akufo-Addo’s law firm, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co.
Lawyer Ampaw left a lasting legacy in the legal profession, particularly through his advocacy for human rights and the pursuit of fair justice. He held a degree from the University of Ghana, LL.B., obtained in 1973, and graduated from the Ghana School of Law with a B.L. in 1993.
