Lack of corporate sponsorship is causing event firms to fail - Ashis

Nana Poku Ashis, an entertainment pundit and artist manager, is pleading with corporate organizations to help event firms, as the majority of them are closing due to a lack of funding.

Lack of corporate sponsorship is causing event firms to fail - Ashis

Ashis, the manager of Highlife performer Kwabena Kwabena, stated in a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz that organizers and creatives who finance their own projects are not financially stable enough to handle such large expenses.

"The simple reason why event planners and solo musicians who book their own performances lose money is a lack of sponsorship. I can state without hesitation that any musician who put on their own show in December of last year suffered a significant loss, even though they will not acknowledge it.

"You work so hard for an occasion, yet you never make a profit. We wouldn't have planned this year's Kwabena Kwabena and Becca Vals Day performance if it weren't for our followers. We continue this event because we always want to be closer to the audience, but trust me when I say that we are suffering," he revealed.

Good shows cost a lot of money to put together, so Ashis continued, adding that it would be hard for them to survive without sponsorship money.

"Our problems began when the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) banned the alcohol industry from sponsoring events, which ended their previous ability to control us.

Now we are crippled, and we don’t know what to do. We can barely survive on our own, and this is the time the government should come to our aid,” he added.
