Kuami Eugene: "My family needs to be well-off before I buy fancy clothes"

In a recent Live TikTok session with Nana Donkor Arthur, the 2020 VGMA Artiste of the Year and Lynx Entertainment signee disclosed that his wardrobe selections are not random but rather a calculated compromise to help his family overcome their hardships.

When questioned about why he doesn't seem to care about people who call him out for having "poor fashion sense," the Monica crooner said that his dedication to providing a better life for his family comes before living a more ostentatious lifestyle.

He informed the host that he could not disregard his family's lack of a good home to live for a luxury lifestyle, and he shared the challenges he had in the early years of his profession and his resolve to do everything in his power to change his tale.

Because of my previous experiences, I made a promise to put my family's needs above my own fashion sense. We were still having trouble when I sang my popular song, "Angela." At the time, I was still taking "Trotro." My first trip to the UK came after "Angela," when I began to see some serious money. I had to fix my family's situation with the money before I could start concentrating on my lifestyle. He remarked, "If I wasn't dressing well, it was because I had to change my family's fate before I could come to terms with myself.

"Now my mum owns a house, rides her own car, before we were sleeping in a box at Kaneshie but now things have changed," he said with joy. Now, every sibling of mine owns a car. Everyone is now happy, so even though I'm having a good time, they can understand because I've raised my family well.

Before passing judgment, he asked detractors to take the context of his decisions into account, saying, "I'm just hoping that you need to think about the person's situation before you talk about someone or attack."
