The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Honourable Michael Okyere Baafi has confirmed internet fraudsters in his constituency are now recruiting children into their illegal trade.

He eulogized, the situation has led to an increase in the number of teenage boys engaging in internet fraud activities at the expense of their education.

The New Juabeng South legislature opined, that ritual money in Ghana currently "is real and the Sakawa young boys in Koforidua have started recruiting children that have really influenced small boys ages as low as 13, and 14 chasing luxurious cars".

Honourable Baafi recounted, in a press encounter with the media in Koforidua that the romance scam has been in existence for many years in Koforidua and Ghana as a whole and the cruel menace has however transmogrified from “Yahoo boys” to “Sakawa boys” and now “game boys.

He narrated that "the fraudsters often disguise themselves as women, enter into a romantic relationship with unsuspecting people in Asia and Europe, send fake nude images of themselves to their clients.

"After getting the trust of their victims, they make financial demands under false pretence.

The New Juaben South legislature, and now a Deputy Ministers' designate for Trade and Industry told that those engaged in the act have now shifted from internet fraud to ritual money activities.

The lawmaker attributed recent murder cases in Koforidua to be ritual murder, adding, that was the reason why some parts of the victims were not intact when they were found dead.

“All the three killings recorded in Koforidua this year could be linked to ritual murder because when their bodies were examined, the police revealed that some of their body parts were removed”.

Honourable Baafi bemoaned ”, my aim, is to change the narrative in all sectors of the local economy of Koforidua, by enforcement of bye-laws to prevent children from gaming, betting, and engaging in internet fraud.
