The Methodist Church Ghana, Koforidua Diocesan Guild, has held its 5th Biennial Conference over the weekend at Akuapem Tutu Calvary Methodist Society, in the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern Region under the theme: Discipleship, Teaching Everyone to live like Jesus Christ.

The two-day conference was chaired by Nana, Dr Ani Agyei III, the Krobbohene of Akuapem Tutu Traditional Council.

Delivering the Sermon on behalf of the Diocesan Bishop, the Assistant Synod Secretary of the Diocese, Very Rev E. A. Mensah, who doubles as the Superintendent Minister of Koforidua Asokore Circuit, opined, that it is becoming difficult to pinpoint a faithful Christian among the congregation in this current generation.

The Supt. Minister revealed, that to live like Jesus Christ requires, suffering, Commitment, Dedication denunciations of self-centeredness, and  perseverance because MH 589 says, Go, labour on; spend, and be spent; Thy joy to do the Father's will; It is the way the Master went; Should not the servant tread it still

Christians are to follow Christ's steps, to speak the truth, devoid of fear or panic, adding, that John the Baptist spoke the truth, even though he was beheaded by the then King, but God rewarded him.

Very Rev Mensah lamented,  the youth are using foul means to amass wealth instead of to live Christ-like life, emphasized, that it is becoming so difficult for many Christians to live like Christ due to the fact that some pastors of late have adopted occultism powers to draw congregation to their churches and truth has therefore become economical, whilst the society also hails wealthy rather instead of dignity! he stressed.

He charged the guild members to be disciplined, dedicated in order to demonstrate Christ likes life, and through this, the guild will evangelise to the people around them and use this means to draw many souls to Christ.

Launching deep into the theme, Very Rev Mensah said, it is becoming a norm for a Christian to only demonstrate Christ-like life only at church, but tend to be a nonbeliever after church, due to headship, and external pressure, whilst others sometimes doubt the existence of the Almighty God.

The Man of God concluded, that God is willing to use a faithful Christian to solve many challenges confronting the world and the church as a whole to glorifies His Holy name.

The Connexional President of the Methodist Guild, Arko Mensah, on his part, thanked the Planning Committee, especially the Chaplain Rev, Eric Antwi, as well as the Chairman, Kwadwo Yeboah, for a successful Conference and challenged the Diocesan officers to maintain the momentum gathered at the conference venue to emancipate the organization, adding that 2021 conference has really demonstrated the growth of the Diocesan Guild.
