“We find it very disappointing and very unfortunate that such a crash happened. We have got the information from the police that the death toll has risen to 31 and per our observation; we are attributing this crash to driver error.

“We have looked at the road infrastructure and the vehicles and there’s nothing suggesting that it’s coming with some deficiency associated with the vehicle” he said.

Meanwhile the Municipal Chief Executive for Kintampo North, Michael Sarkodie Baffoe is calling for an immediate stakeholder meeting to find a lasting solution to crashes on the stretch.

“All the stakeholders will have to come together and I mean the Municipal assembly, the MTTD of the police and also the transport unions and their drivers. We will have to come to terms with the fact that this is a bad situation that needs to be looked at, tackled and finality brought to it.

"We cannot completely erode accidents from the systems but we can bring it to the barest minimum to their effect on society,” the MCE stated.

The accident involved a long passenger bus and a Sprinter mini bus which collided head-on.
