Erstwhile Manchester City star Jerome Boateng arrived in court in Munich today to face charges of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Sherin S.

The 33-year-old German International has been accused of causing dangerous bodily harm to Sherin, who is the mother of his twin daughters, in 2018.

Lawyer Kai Walden alongside his client Jerome Boateng appeared in court today to defend the former Bayern Munich defender on the charges levelled against him.

Kai Walden has said that Jerome denies claims that he injured his former partner during the alleged heated argument and If he’s found guilty, he could be fined or jailed for up to five years.

The original date for the hearing was postponed last December because a witness was unable to appear due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Boateng and his ex-Sherin are also locked in a separate ongoing legal battle of the custody of their twin girls.

Jerome Boateng allegedly threw a  "small glass candle holder" at Sherin during a holiday three years ago. Newspaper Bild reports.

The footballer and his ex-partner were together for ten years and began dating in 2007.

The pair broke up one year after their daughters were born but rekindled their romance in 2014 and the following year they got engaged.

They then split again following the alleged assault in 2018.

It has been a turbulent year so far for Boateng.
