I’m Very Circumspect In My Promises Because Ghana Is Broke– Mahama

THE FLAGBEARER of the National Democratic Congress (NDC),H.E John Dramani Mahama, has indicated that he is very circumspect with respect to his promises ahead of the 2024 polls.

Mr Mahama disclosed that the country's economy is in total shambles thus it has limited him from making juicy and fat promises to Ghanaians.

He made these comments while addressing NDC supporters in Hohoe in the Volta Region.

.."I am being very measured in the promises that I make because we all know the crisis in which this country has been plunged [into]. We will show you the books and finances of this country, and you will realise the harm that the New Patriotic Party administration has done this country, the economy is broke.”

Mr Mahama also disclosed that paying Assembly members should not be a big deal for the nation on the grounds that the said allowances would only cost the country an amount of Gh¢80 million annually.

Mr Mahama made this comments at the backdrop of his Visit  in Hohoe to climax two- day " Building the Ghana we want together" tour to the Volta region.

He added that, the government's allocated budget would be dwindled to take care of the allowances of the Assembly members.

" The office of the President's budget alone is more than GH¢2 billion. We are going to reduce the President's office expenditure to pay the Assembly members"

Mr Mahama reiterated that the next NDC administration would scrap the teacher licensure examination.
