Jurgen Klopp says he was troubled at Everton’s appointment of Carlo Ancelotti because he knew the competence of the former Napoli boss will help transform his rival club.

According to the German, he's been too interested to watch the Toffees couple of times in their winning run at the start of the new season.

Liverpool will play Ancelotti's men at Goodison Park on Saturday early kickoff in their fifth PL fixture.

Klopp’s has encountered the Italian when he took over the Toffees in a game which ended goalless at Goodison Park during Project restart. The Reds took 70 per cent of possession but were unable to convert their chances in the Merseyside derby.

Boosted by the return of Henderson from injury, Thiago and Mane following their coronavirus infection, the Reds are looking forward to redeeming themselves following their shocking 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa before the international break.

The German in an interview disclosed that was not initially anxious about the Toffees but the appointment of the Italian quickened his concern and facing him in the derby is one tough fixture.

Carlo Ancelotti was appointed the Premier League manager for the month of September after a perfect record – winning all four the Toffees fixtures to go top of the League with 12 points.

“He is doing an incredible job, there was never any doubt about that, said Klopp.

“When I heard he was going there I thought, ‘Oh, God’. I didn’t like that fact but he is there and he is doing an incredible job.”

“I am not too interested in what Everton is doing usually but this year when I saw it, it was obvious like, ‘oh God he fits there perfectly, he fits there perfectly, him as well’.

“You could really see it was the perfect business for them and it makes them a proper threat immediately. Not in one, two, three years… immediately. That is what we all have to face.”

The arrival of James Rodriguez in the Everton midfield together with Allan and Doucoure has integrated the Everton’s midfield with the defence and attack. Dominic Calvert Lewin and Richarlison have been a threat when on the offensive, crashing opponents defence and influencing results.

Calvert Lewin is now Ancelotti’s goal-scoring machine with six goals trailed by Mohamed Salah with five.

“It is really difficult for both of us because we have to do like we hate each other, but we don’t,” Klopp added.

“That is how it is. He is the manager of Everton, I’m Liverpool, but apart from that we have a really good relationship.”
