If we dip even one per cent in form, we have no chance - Jurgen Klopp on Reds performance

Liverpool have won their last four Premier League home matches against Arsenal. However, the Gunners came out on top when the sides last met, at Emirates Stadium in July.

If we dip even one per cent in form, we have no chance - Jurgen Klopp on Reds performance

Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp says the Reds cannot afford to drop a single point in a time where the Premier League competition keeps getting better.

The Liverpool manager uttered ahead of his sides meeting with Arsenal on Monday night that every game demands hard work and commitment to win points despite the squad depth put up by the team.

Leicester City and Everton have so far kept a 100 per cent record by winning three out of three games, with Calvert Lewin and Jamie Vardy leading the Golden Boot race with five goals.

Manchester City have lost their second game, a boost to the reigning champions to secure victory at Anfield as Arsenal are looking to win their opening three matches of a Premier League season for the first time since 2004/05.

“So our task today is very clear. We face amazing players, with outstanding football leadership, who are currently in a positive mood. An exciting challenge, I would say,” Klopp revealed.

“The good news is we are in not-too-bad shape ourselves.

“I spoke before the season started about the need for humility. If we continued to attack our objectives with a humble approach of recognizing we needed to work even harder than we have done before, I was confident we would be in a good place. Well, so far I am very pleased with the attitude and application.

“I do genuinely believe you can demonstrate humility through your commitment to your work. There is no greater respect to the competition, your opponents or your own team than to recognise that only by working harder and being committed to learning and improving can anything of substance be achieved.”

Liverpool's Jordan Henderson (muscle) will not be available with Thiago Alcantara, who played 45 minutes at Chelsea after replacing Henderson, in contention for his full debut.

Joe Gomez returned to training on Friday along with Billy Koumetio but Joel Matip (muscle) remains sidelined.

Klopp explained he appreciated the performance of his team, as they keep improving from one game to the other and expects an effective function from his side today.

“Against Leeds and Chelsea, I have seen we are in this mood. I said, after Chelsea specifically, that I liked that it was a performance that felt like ‘us’! By that, I meant the intensity of our work. We were in every moment. We treated every second of that game like it was a battle to win, individually and collectively.

“That’s a Liverpool performance. Dwell on nothing, be in every moment of the contest and show humility in your approach by recognizing you have to work harder than your opponent before you can even think about winning. Our intensity showed our humility.

“But of course it means nothing if we don’t continue on this path. We need to be at this level constantly. The competition is so strong that if you dip even one per cent you have no chance.”

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 60 Premier League home matches, since April 2017 and will give all to keep that record.
