FORMER Deputy Minister of Energy and Petroleum, who doubles as Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency in the Savanna Region, Honourable John Abdulai Jinapor, has stated that he has no personal agenda against Genser Energy and,for that matter any local company.
According to him, his attention has been drawn to an online publication dated 23rd August 2023 with the headline; Ghanas laws must protect Genser Energy-John Jinapor speaks.
He stated unequivocally that "I have not granted any such interview following the exposé pertaining to the Genser Gas Sales Agreement with GNPC."
Obviously, he noted that this is an attempt by reactionary and misguided elements seeking to perpetuate their selfish agenda.
According to him, since perusing the recent Gas Sales Agreement between Genser and GNPC , I have consistently maintained that the contract is unfair, skewed, and will lead to significant losses to the state running into billions of Cedis.
"I wish to assure that I have no personal agenda against Genser and, for that matter any local company.
"However, I strongly hold the view that there’s a shortfall in the Gas price buildup with the current Genser contract which must be corrected.
"We can not create an unequal playing field for some selected companies to the detriment of other state own companies," the MP stressed.
He indicated that he will not be deterred by these shenanigans but will do everything as the Ranking Member to ensure the wrongs are corrected in this contract.
