The local convent reported that four Nigerian Catholic nuns had been taken on a now-famous roadway where a Catholic was abducted just last week in the south-eastern Nigerian state of Imo.

The Sisters of Jesus the Saviour stated in a statement that the four nuns were on their way to the rning service on Sunday when they were kidnapped in the Okigwe-Umulolo region.

It stated that the nuns were en route to a liturgy of gratitude for a colleague.

The statement read, "We beg for fervent prayer for their speedy and secure release.
