Sowutuom Celebrates This Year's Homowo
Hundreds citizens and people of Sowutuom in the Ga Central municipality in the Greater Accra Region have celebrated the annual Homowo festival.

The event is celebrated to commemorate victory over hunger by hooting at and ridiculing it with songs and dancing.
This is characterized by the sprinkling of the traditional food known as the ‘kpokpoi’ by traditional leaders in the vicinity.
Hundreds of residents also embarked on the Walk’ on the principal streets of Sowutuom as part of activities to mark the festival.
The young, adult, aged, disabled and even foreigners both white and black adorned themselves in their red clothing, as they hit on the streets with their Leaders in merry making with the dance to their traditional songs.
This year's Homowo in Sowutuom saw a massive celebration by putting up of canopies at the fore court of the palace playing traditional songs.
 
The celebration also characterized the display of cultural by guest from disporal sister country Benin performed Ajara Dance for the People gathered on the compound of the palace.
The Chief of the Nii Osabu Akwei together  with his traditional Leaders and residents of Sowutuom community parade themselves and toured streets and some Royal homes to hoot at hunger in sprinkling of Kpokpoi’ with red outfit everywhere.
The Chief of Sowutuom Nii Osabu Akwei, explained, sprinkle the kpokpoi around the Town signify that, they have enough food; to eat with leftover foods and the ancestors, the ghosts, those who have died should come to walk on it on the street.

 Nii Osabu Akwei advised the youth not to give up on their Good heart desires in life but rather focused in order to succeed in their future.
