A cargo ship that became stranded in the Suez Canal has been raised to the surface by Egyptian authorities.

Leth Agencies, a shipping company, had earlier reported that MV Glory had grounded close to the northeastern city of El-Qantarah.

Later, it announced that 21 vessels would resume transiting the Suez Canal with just minor delays after being refloated by tugboats from the authority.

According to the Associated Press, the ship was reported as transporting more than 65,000 metric tonnes of grain from Ukraine to China.

The Ever Given, a massive container ship, closed the canal in 2021, halting international trade.
