Government to Absorb WASSCE Registration Fees of All SHS Finalists

The government of Ghana will absorb full examination fees of some 323,837 students who are sitting for the WASSCE examinations this year, the president, Nana Akufo-Addo has announced.

The president in a nationwide televised address on the country’s fight against the covid-19 pandemic opined that, an estimated amount of GHS 75.4 Million will be spent in absorbing WASSCE registration fees this year.

 

 

“From tomorrow, Monday June 22, 2020, the next batch of students who will going back to school are our Final Year Senior High School Students (SHS 3) and second year gold track students”

 “For the first time in our nation’s history, government will absorb the WASSCE examination fees of the 323,837 students who will sit for the exams. GHS75.4 million will be spent on this. These SHS 3 students, also referred to by some of the Akufo-Addo graduates are also the first group of beneficiaries of government free SHS beneficiaries to sit for the examination,” Akufo-Addo said.

He reassured parents and guardians of the authorities’ efforts to ensure the students are well taken care of.

The 2020 WASSCE in Ghana will take place from August 3, 2020 after six weeks of studies, having now returned to school.
