Government Minimum Cashew Buying Price to face reduction over declining quality of Nuts

There is a looming danger on Ghana's Foreign exchange as confusion has erupted between Farmers and Traders over the pricing of Cashew; one of the leading cash crops our dear nation exports to the World market.

Government of Ghana through the Honorable. William Quaittoo led Crops Development Authority in collaboration with all Stakeholders for the first time fixed a Cashew Minimum producer or buying price of Ghc5 per one (1) kilogram for the 2022 crop season, but this price is under threat due to the declining quality of Nuts Farmers are producing in recent times which do not meet International Standards.

Addressing an emergency Press conference in Techiman the Bono East regional capital, Mr. Mumuni Issah Chairman of Techiman North and South Cashew Traders and Exporters Association of Ghana (CTEAG) explained to our correspondent Nana Anfreh Damanata how the Cashew price increased from Ghc5 to Ghc6 per kilo in January but has since February declined back to Ghc5...

Chairman Mumuni Issah pleaded with Farmers and Traders to accept this new directive in order not to drive away Foreigners who buy our Cashew nuts for export to neighboring Cote D'Ivoire where they also produce quality cashew nuts but sell at lesser prices.
