Ghana’s Economy risks suffering a deeper challenge-Haruna Iddrisu

The Minority Leader, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu has warmed that the economy was likely to suffer a setback following what he described as lack of competence in handling the economy of the country. "Deeper crisis than what is captured in this Year’s Mid-year budget review might be experienced",the Tamale Central lawmaker feared.

The Minority Leader, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu has warmed that the economy was likely to suffer a setback following what he described as lack of competence in handling the economy of the country.

"Deeper crisis than what is captured in this Year’s Mid-year budget review might be experienced",the Tamale Central lawmaker feared.

Speaking on the floor of the House today, July 27,2022,
 the Minority Leader said amongst other things expressing the fear that the country might find itself in a serious crisis with the poor handling of the economy as he concludes concludes debate on the Midyear Review Budget Statement.

He asserted that Ghana’s economy may experience deeper crisis if the government continues to manange  the economy like the same way it's currently doing.

He bemoaned the government's failure during the review to include how it intends to resolve the current economic challenges and how to repay loans but not rather compounding the country's debt stock.

I his response, the Majority Leader, Honourable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonso  reiterated the government’s position on the impact of Parliament’s delays in passing the E-levy.
He said the current crisis was as a result of the covid and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
