Galamsey Saga: Galamsey Commandos' Used Military Uniforms To Pounce On Young Men In Gwira Apansia, Killed One

There is another heartbreaking incident at Apansia in the Gwira Traditional Area in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region which was resulted in killing of a young man and other sustained severe wound cuts on his body.

The heart-breaking attacks were visited on the boys in Gwira Apansia by the marauding thugs who were popularly called galamsey commandos.

These thugs were reported to have been hired by one famous galamsey kingpin in Gwira, Emmanuel to guard his illegal mining site located at Gwira Akusuno.

In a video which is in possession of this journalist, a young man in his thirties who has wound cuts on all parts of his body was seen naked in full glare of the public manhandled by the galamsey commandos for which one of them wore Ghana Army Force (GAF) pattern uniform.This was after they subjected the young man to severe beatings.

The video also captured how another young man from Gwira Apansia was severely beaten and killed by these galamsey commandos. 

These young man, according to information available to this news outlet, were attacked by these commandos when they were sent by the chief of Gwira Apansia Divisional Area, Nana Kojo Mensah II to stop the illegal miners on his land.

This news outlet gathered that when the young men were coming from the land, they were attacked by the galamsey commandos on the direct orders of illegal miners who are working indiscriminately on the land of Nana Kojo Mensah II without his consents and knowledge.

In the video, these galamsey commandos were seen in full glare of public asking the naked young man several questions under duress for which one of the commandos who wore military pattern uniform pointed gun at the boy.

Surprisingly, the perpetrators who committed these henous acts have not been arrested by the police in the Axim Police State although the cops had evidence on this heartbreaking incident.

Speaking on the video, the impeccable source closed to the Gwira Traditional Area hinted that the chief of Gwira Apansia Divisional Area, Nana Kojo Mensah II has realized that the illegal miners have stormed his land for which they had started mining indiscriminately to destroy the land.

The source pointed out that the chief has noticed these illegal miners who are on his land working had possessed guns and other offensive weapons.

According to the source,Nana Kojo Mensah has sent his boys who are members of his kingdom to go to the land to stop the illegal mining activities of the miners.

The source explained that they boy went to the land to officially inform the galamseyers that they were sent by their chief Nana Kojo Mensah II who is the allodial owner of the said land to ask them to stop their illegal mining activities.

Suddenly, while the boys were coming back home, the illegal miners working on the said land in their illegal mining sites had quickly organized their commandos who also called their colleagues who are guarding various illegal mining sites in the bushes of these miners to attack the boys.

In this regard, the source pointed out that the commandos gave a hot chase to the boys and grabbed one of the boys, thereby subjected him to severe beatings and killed him in the process.

The source indicated that one of the boys captured in the video were lucky to save himself from killing by the marauding commandos.

This is because he knows one of the thugs for which he explained to the commandos that, they were sent by Nana Kojo Mensah II to stop the activities of the miners and that they were not criminals and robbers as being claimed by the illegal miners.

Additionally, the source asserted that the gun weirdly commandos had managed to strip naked the boy captured in a video who explained to them that they were sent by the chief.

Following this heart-breaking development, the source mentioned that the commandos had beaten and wounded the boy and pointed gun at him which was captured in the video, thereby asking him to reveal more secrets about their activities.

The source indicated that these were criminal and inhumane activities that the galamseyers in Gwira communities had engaged the services of their commandos to visit mayhem at individual personalities who challenged their illegal mining activities.

According to the source, "as at today, [Tuesday April 17, 2023], he was speaking to the media about these happenings, the police officers of Ghana Police Service had not effected the arrest of the perpetrators who had committed these hoinous act.

What was very surprised, according to the source, is that these galamsey commandos were still in the bushes guarding the illegal mining sites by the miners in Gwira although these activities were officially reported to the national security and Ghana Police Service.

The source mentioned one Emmanuel who he said is the leader of the miners who hired the galamsey commandos to guard their mining sites in Gwira Akosonu.

The source stated that the commandos who were guarding the mining sites of the illegal miners were in possessions of guns and other offensive weapons for which they used these weapons to terrorize innocent residents.

These commandos, according to the source, although there is a ban on the use of military-pattern uniforms by civilians issued by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), these galamsey commandos were always seen wearing the military-pattern uniforms everytime that they were guarding illegal mining sites in the bushes in Gwira Akosonu community.

The source disclosed that these commandos were numbered in fifty (50) who are guarding the sites of the illegal miners.

The source noted that they were suspected that some prominent government appointees and top politicians have hands in their illegal operations that is why they were not arrested by the police.
