The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayensuoano Constituency in the Eastern Region, Mr Teddy Saforo Addi, has appealed to the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to take contingency measures to ensure of the fixing of the deplorable nature of the road network to the Anum Apapam Senior High School (SHS).
According to the commercial drivers withdraw their services of plying that stretch of the road due to the poor nature of the road leading to the school.
"I am unhappy about the deplorable nature of the road of Anum Apapam Senior High School. Because this has made sleepless. And that the one critical thing l need to plead with the central government to do for me is to fix the poor road network leading to the Anum Apapam SHS. Sometimes when my students walked from long distance just to have access to education, you would not believe it.

"And even the teachers, there are times when it rains they cannot even come to the school to teach. So l am appealing to the government to come to our aid to fix the road for us," he stressed," the MP made the appeal when he accompanied members of the National Democratic Congress Chapter in South Africa to hand over a total of ten tablets to ten adopted brilliant students of Anum Apapam Senior High School.

According to the MP, they have a nice or fine school that has produced a lots of takents but what was left is access to good roads so that at least they can come to school and studied properly.

He stressed that Anum SHS needs access to good road so that both teachers and students can have peace to learn.

It was reported okada riders at Anum Apapam in the Ayensuano District are allegedly sexually exploiting female Students of Anum Community Day Senior High School due to transportation challenges in the School

The School, located about 2.5km away from Anum-Apapam and 5 Km from Obuoho communities does not have a bus, neither a vehicle for the headmaster for administrative functions because it has not been commissioned, though in used for the past three years.

The deplorable road network leading to the School and its surrounding communities has discouraged drivers to ply the road.

The most available means of transport for hundreds of Students who stay in rented houses in the community is motorbike popularly known as Okada.

The Okada riders have therefore taken undue advantage of the situation to exploit the vulnerable female students in exchange for Free ride.

The Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association,(PTA) ,Nana Oppong Gyau noted that  the absence of School Bus and vehicle for the headmaster as well as the poor road network to the School are major nightmare for the PTA.

He confirmed the amorous relationship between Okada riders and Female students as a result of the transportation challenges.

According to him, several letters written to the appropriate Authorities requesting for provision of School Bus, Vehicle for the headmaster and tarring of the road have not been respondent to.

“the school has no Bus, the road is very bad therefore no driver is willing to ply the road. The road get flooded whenever there is downpour so students are not allowed to go home whenever it is about to rain for fear of drowning or being affected by thunder so sometimes they get home around 9pm”

He said because the school has no car, it uses Okada  for administrative purposes.

He accused the District Chief Executive for Ayensuano for “disowning” the School .
