#Fix Ashaiman Roads: Residen Hundreds of protestors in Ashaiman within the Greater Accra Region have taken to the streets to register their displeasure against bad roads within the constituency.

The protest which was staged by the Ashaiman Youth Association(AshYA) is aimed at making a demand for the re-fix of roads within the constituency.

The protestors, clad in red and black wielding plâards with writings including "we are also human beings, fix our roads, we deserve better, we are dying, fix our roads amongst others.

The protestors made a stop at the Ashaiman Traffic light blocking the way for all moving vehicles thereby incurring the blunt of the Ashaiman police who mounted a barricade to prevent protesters from using the Ashaman Market Road.

According to the demonstrators, as part of their plan, they would want to demonstrate through the main Ashaiman Market through to the Newtown junction to showcase the obvious bad roads.

But the police in Ashaïman would have none of that. A police personnel in his attempt to convince the irate demonstrators not to use the market road said the market road was not part of roads earmarked for the demonstration.

There was a standstill for more than 2 hours as the protestors insisted on using the main market route.

In the process, one of the demonstrators hit the back of a police officer with an unidentified object causing an injury to the head and forcing blood out. He was timely rushed to an unidentified hospital within the municipality.

Speaking to one of the organizers of the protest and leader of the Palace of Mercy, Fawaz Musah said the demonstration the intention of the protest had been achieved. He asserted that the main purpose of the protest was to make a clear statement for the roads to be fixed and that he said has been achieved.

The protestors marched through the principal streets of Ashaiman and presented their petition to the MCE, Honourable Albert Boakye Okyere who assured that the same would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for immediate attention.

Presenting their petition, the Assembly Member for Nii Amui Electoral Area, Honourable Freeman Tsekpo called for the immediate return of contractors to fix the Ashaiman roads.

The petition was signed by Honourable Freeman Tsekpo, Honourable shadrach Tetteh, Honourable Ayiku Kabutey, Mr. Jonathan Aviisah, Abdul Rahmanfatawu, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, and Mr. Fawaz Musah and copied to the Minister of Roads and Highways and Greater Accra Regional Minister and all interested parties.
