A chartered Economist, Enoch Okuna has said the finance minister’s request for more time to brief  Parliament about the cost incurred during the president’s tour is in order.

He said the Minister would have to go through some procedures before he gets the full details of the cost therefore his request for more time from Parliament is in order.

The Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, has requested some time from Parliament to provide a response to the urgent question on the cost of President Akufo-Addo’s recent trips to France, Belgium, and South Africa, despite being notified over two weeks ago.

He was scheduled to answer the said question on Thursday after the Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul, responded to the first part of the question on the airworthiness of the Presidential jet on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. But the question directed at the Finance Minister by North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, was taken off the order paper for the day.

Enock Okuna speaking on Ark in the Morning monitored by Soiree News said in order to determine that the president has caused financial loss to the country, the entire expenditure of the tour needs to be considered.

He said the Minority should not only limit the argument to the aspect of the private jet but rather a whole cost element needed to be considered.
