Mr Joseph Kusi Nyankyera, an Engineer, has said President Akufo Addo’s comment on the acting Auditor General “is uncalled for, unfortunate and unfair if not based on his own interest”.

He was speaking on Issues on Ark with Kwasi Kyei Bafour at the weekend on the comparison that the President made between the outgone Auditor-General, Daniel Yaw Domelevo to the acting AG, Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu.

Mr Nyankyera added such comments could influence Mr Asiedu’s work negatively since the President has already praised him and expressed greater worry that the work of the Auditor-General “is delicate and must not be influenced by anyone, but the action of the President is trying to put a stamp on his decision on the Auditor General”.

He said this will cast suspicion on the President not being fair to people who will want to access the new AG based on his performance and things of this nature will draw down the trust people have in him.

Finally, he said it is not in the position of the President to judge between the two since he was the one who appointed him.

Meanwhile, the communication director of the New Patriotic Party NPP in Bono Region, Asare Bediako Seth, has said some members of the NPP cautioned against the choice of the first Special Prosecutor but this was not heeded to and Mr Martin Amidu ended in a mess, the same way as Mr Domelevo.

He said the acting AG by naming Catherine Afeku to be dealt with for engaging in misappropriation of funds is a sign the NPP would fight corruption to the maximum.
